Kingdom Partnership Agreement
between
Community Fellowships of the Caribbean (CFC)
and
Wycliffe Caribbean: Partners in Bible Translation
Introduction
- The Great Commission was given by our Lord Jesus to His Church. It is, therefore, the responsibility of the Church to carry it out. Wycliffe Caribbean, as a mission organisation, exists to serve the Church, helping her to carry out her responsibility to obey the Great Commission, specifically as it relates to people and language groups who do not yet have the Scriptures in their language.
- The purpose of this partnership is to jointly accomplish what neither organisation can do as well alone. This agreement, therefore, states the expectations each organisation has of the other.
- This agreement also seeks to prevent duplication of effort, competition, and misunderstanding.
- This agreement seeks to develop a partnership that capitalises on the resources oriented relationships that CFC has with its churches, and task oriented relationships Wycliffe has with the fields.
- This agreement focuses specifically on members of the CFC who are also members of Wycliffe Caribbean.
Section A: Items that Apply to Both Organisations
- Both organisations agree that some confidential information concerning the member may at times need to be shared between them, but otherwise strict confidentiality needs to be observed by both.
- It is agreed that should a situation requiring discipline arise, it shall be initiated by the offended organisation and in consultation with the other organisation. In the case of a moral lapse, a breach of Christian ethics or conduct, it is agreed that either organisation can initiate the discipline.
- It is agreed by both organisations that adequate time must be allowed for the member to develop his or her financial and prayer support partnerships in order to ensure a strong support base for the member and the ministry.
- It is agreed that a members home service leave after a term of service overseas needs to be carefully planned with the member, the field administration, Wycliffe and CFC in order that the needs of all parties will be met.
- It is understood that decisions on the type of ministry a member does during home service leave will depend on his or her personal ministry gifts.
- It is agreed that a full home service leave will have such components as the following:
- debriefing;
- personal rest and recuperation;
- physical, emotional and spiritual checkups;
- professional development study programs;
- marriage renewal seminars;
- visits with financial and prayer partners;
- general ministry to supporting churches;
- attendance at the CFC denominational conference,
- work in Wycliffe oriented service.
- It is agreed that supervision of the member on home service leave (furlough) will normally be done by Wycliffe in consultation with CFC.
- Recognizing the difficulty of covering all contingencies in a partnership relationship, both organisations agree it is vital to operate in an atmosphere of mutual trust, keeping all parties fully informed of all problems that arise, recognizing that there is no problem that will not yield to honest discussion and prayer.
- Reviews of this agreement, shall be done by the directors annually, or as often as agreed upon, and revised jointly as needed.
Section B: Items that Apply Specifically to CFC
- CFC agrees to cooperate actively with Wycliffe in evaluating its members for service with Wycliffe. Such areas as doctrinal soundness, compatibility, character, and commitment. (Note: See statement of faith, and statement of compatibility below.)
- CFC agrees to commission such of its members as Wycliffe accepts as its members and assign, or second them to work with Wycliffe. (Note: Other relationships such as official co-appointment under the denomination's own mission board are also open to discussion and agreement.)
- CFC agrees to orient each member on its denominational principles and such general training as is appropriate.
- CFC agrees to work together with Wycliffe and take an active role in providing spiritual and emotional care for the member, particularly when he or she is on home service leave, but also in cases of special need when the member is in the place of his or her assignment.
- CFC agrees to endorse the member to its constituency and co-operate actively in raising both financial and prayer support. (Note: Other arrangements such as full financial support from the church budget, instead of, or in addition to support from individuals, are also open to discussion and agreement. This could also include pension savings and health insurance coverage through CFC.)
- CFC agrees to encourage its churches and individuals to send their financial support for members directly to the Wycliffe receipting office. (Note: other timely and effective arrangements for transferring funds can be discussed and agreed upon.)
- CFC agrees to allow its members to abide by Wycliffe field policies such as:
- working as a servant of the national church;
- considering linguistics, Bible translation, and literacy as the default method for church planting;
- training of indigenous people to take leadership;
- not taking on formal ecclesiastical control over indigenous churches, etc.
Section C: Items that Apply Specifically to Wycliffe Caribbean
- Wycliffe agrees to orient each member to its working principles, and provide the essential training for the task to be accomplished.
- Wycliffe agrees to train the member in such ministry skills as financial and prayer partnership development, communication with home churches, etc.
- Wycliffe agrees to introduce the member to tools, programs, books, videos, and other resources available to help the member in the task of developing prayer and financial partners.
- Wycliffe agrees to supply information on the levels of a members financial support and project funds to CFC or individual supporting church or person on request.
- Wycliffe agrees to provide information based on the members yearly performance evaluations to CFC.
- Wycliffe agrees to accept the responsibility to provide direction to the member and to make sure the member is well coached in his or her assignment.
- Wycliffe agrees to consider the member part of the Wycliffe team, sharing in all the privileges and responsibilities as an integral part of the Wycliffe community.
- Wycliffe agrees to initiate planning with the member on his or her next home service leave and will involve CFC in the planning by keeping CFC informed as plans develop.
Section D: Items that Apply Specifically to the Member
- The member shall meet the standards established by both organisations.
- The member agrees without reservation to the theological and policy positions of both organisations.
- The member agrees to raise funds for personal salary, ministry or projects only after both organisations have given permission. (Note: This item needs to align with the agreement in B-6)
- The member agrees to assume primary responsibility for generating full financial and prayer support. (Note: This item needs to align with the agreement in B-6)
- The member agrees to abide by all Wycliffes policies, principles and practices, including the deduction of a percentage of his income for administrative purposes. (Traditionally 10%)
- The member agrees to provide CFC with a yearly report of his or her activities.
- The member agrees to be responsible for all arrangements needed to reach his or her place of assignment.
This partnership agreement replaces and supersedes all previous agreements between Wycliffe and CFC and becomes effective upon signing by both executive directors, or their appointees.
